Zoom Video Communications, Inc. (Zoom) is an American communications technology company headquartered in San Jose, California that provides cloud-based remote video and audio conferencing services. Zoom offers Zoom communications software that integrates video conferencing, online meeting, chat and telecommuting tools. Zoom was founded in 2011 by Eric Yuan, a former vice president of Cisco WebEx. Since then, the company has grown rapidly and in 2017 was valued at $1 billion. In the spring of 2019, Zoom made a public listing on the NASDAQ, by the end of the IPO, the company was valued at $16 billion. In the spring of 2020, the number of active users of Zoom grew to 300 million people , in comparison with 10 million at the end of 2019, and by the end of November 2020, the capitalization of the company, according to Forbes, increased to $139 billion. Such a rapid growth is associated with the introduction of quarantine measures in many countries of the world caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
